Developing the confidence and competence of local health and social care providers in identifying and managing IPC risks and promoting good antimicrobial stewardship are key priorities within national IPC guidance. A Cornwall IPC network will support implementation of effective IPC practices with full support from the NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly IPC team. The network is not intended to replace specialist IPC practitioners however, the aim is to have at least one connection in each primary care and care home setting across Cornwall and providers can nominate as many individuals as they like to sign up to the network. The network is currently structured in three free of charge training levels. The beginner level is for care home staff only and the additional levels are outlined below.
The link practitioner level is a six-month course, currently offering two virtual sessions per month. This level is reserved for clinical staff in primary care and care home settings only.
A trainer the trainer level will be developed in due course, with more information to follow.
