SUMMARY:Collective action by Cornish general practice - Kernow LMC webinar
DESCRIPTION:Following on from the General Practitioners’ Committee roadshow for Cornish general practice on 11 July\, Kernow LMC will host an online meeting for local GP surgeries to discuss what measures they would be comfortable taking collectively in protest at the 2024/25 GP Contract imposition and years of under-funding and under-resourcing prior to potential industrial action in the autumn. \nWe will be seeking local views on the potential action outlined in the British Medical Association’s GP Practice Survival Toolkit\, along with other ideas from Cornish general practice on how to take a stand. \nThe virtual meeting will take place on Tuesday\, 23 July\, from 7-8pm via Microsoft Teams and is open for GPs\, GP registrars and Practice Managers. Please try to ensure that your surgery is represented. \nYou can register and receive the webinar link by emailing rich@kernowlmc.co.uk by noon on Friday\, 19 July.

SUMMARY:NHS Resolution webinar: patient safety in primary care remote consultations | 27.03.2024 12.30pm
DESCRIPTION:Dear colleagues\, \nIn November 2023\, BMJ Quality and safety published a research paper analysing patient safety in remote primary care consultations. The research conducted by an Oxford University research team\, utilised data from NHS bodies\, including NHS Resolution\, NHS England and the Health Safety Science Investigation Bureau (HSSIB)\, to triangulate patient outcomes and identify where many of the risks lie in the remote delivery of primary care services. \nThe paper provides clear practical steps for clinicians\, organisations and patients to make remote consultations in primary care even safer. \nOn 27 March 2024 at 12:30-14:00\, NHS Resolution will be hosting a free virtual forum where you can join us to hear about the findings\, directly from the lead researcher and lead reviewer \, Dr Rebecca Payne and Professor Trisha Greenhalgh. \nThis event is likely to be of interest to all clinical and non-clinical primary care professionals involved in front-line patient care and those who are involved in commissioning and setting up remote consultations. \nTherefore\, please feel free to share this email and flyer with clinical\, operational\, legal\, risk\, patient safety and quality improvement colleagues at all levels within your networks. \n  \nFurther details and the registration link are available here: NHS Resolution: Patient safety in remote consultations Tickets\, Wed 27 Mar 2024 at 12:30 | Eventbrite \n  \nBest wishes\, \nSafety & learning team \nNHS Resolution

SUMMARY:NHS Resolution and PCDS: Learning from Dermatology negligence claims virtual webinar 22nd November 2023 12.30pm
DESCRIPTION:The Primary Care Dermatology society (PCDS) was set up by GPs in 1994 to support dermatology education in primary care and redress the gap which saw dermatology account for 30% of GP consultations but not an extensive part of medical education. The PCDS website and society has grown and is recognised to provide comprehensive guidance\, education events\, tools\, patient information leaflets and resources to its 4\,000 GP and primary care health professional members. NHS Resolution has completed a review of dermatology claims within the last 5 years to examine the themes and trends within primary care. \nOn 22 November 2023\, from 12:30-2pm\, NHS Resolution and PCDS are hosting a free virtual forum to share the highlights from our analysis of dermatology claims\, and discuss the risks\, opportunities and challenges affecting lesion and medical dermatology management in primary care. \nWe will be joined by Dr Tim Cunliffe (PCDS) and Majid Hassan (Capsticks) alongside Michelle Stafford (NHS Resolution). \nThe link is to register is available here: NHS Resolution Virtual Forum: Learning from Dermatology claims Tickets\, Wed 22 Nov 2023 at 12:30 | Eventbrite

SUMMARY:The Future of Primary Care - webinar
DESCRIPTION:Former Chair of the Somerset CCG and Dr Mohit Venkataram discuss the 'John Lewis' Model at The Future of Primary Care Webinar on 7 December 2022.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAre you a health professional working in primary care in the NHS? Are you interested in knowing what primary care health leaders have to say about the future of primary care? \nOn 7 December 2022 at 7pm via Zoom join Dr Edward Ford\, GP at Minehead Medical Centre in Somerset when he talks about the new 'John Lewis' model of care with Dr Mohit Venkataram\, Executive Lead for Primary Care at East London NHS Foundation Trust. \nThe discussion will address: \n\nThe new 'John Lewis' model in response to increasing numbers of GPs leaving over time\nHow to offer GPs and other health staff a say in how a practice is run\nHow to protect the ongoing stability and sustainability of a practice\nHow to make a GP surgery a more attractive place for staff to work and develop their careers.\n\nAbout Minehead Medical Centre\nMinehead Medical Centre\, has become the first individual GP surgery in the country to operate as a 'John Lewis' style employee-owned trust (EOT). The practice\, which has a patient population of 13\,000 and around 50 staff\, adopted the new model in response to increasing numbers of its GPs leaving over time. \nAbout the 'John Lewis' Model\nUnder the John Lewis model\, every employee owns a non-tradeable share in the company at no extra cost to them. This share is held on their behalf by trustees of the organisation\, who are chosen by the practice staff. According to this model\, each employee has much more involvement when discussing how the practice is run and has more power when making decisions\, as they are all effectively co-owners. \nAbout Dr Edward Ford\nDr Edward Ford is a GP\, former Chair of the Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group and leader of the development of the employee-owned trust at Minehead Medical Centre. He said: "This model gives us the best of both worlds\, where you are still salaried but you have control of your own destiny\, and that applies to all staff who can take on leadership roles within the surgery." \nFor more information on the story click here. \nWebinar Logistics\nRegister below and you will immediately receive your registration confirmation email\, containing your unique Zoom link to join the session on the day. \nThroughout the session\, you will have the chance to interact with Mohit and Dr Edward via the live Q&A function and chat. \nWe strongly encourage you to submit questions ahead of time to make sure your question will be answered at the session. \nThe webinar will last for one hour\, from 7pm. \nRegister here: Webinar Registration - Zoom
